Paul Temple

Crime Writer and Amateur Detective

Between 1938 and 1969 the adventures of Paul Temple and his glamorous wife Steve gripped the radio audience.

Subsequently, the Temples appeared in a number of books, films and television programmes.

In time this website will provide information about the Temples and their adventures, concentrating (at least at first) on the radio serials.

A number of the classic radio programmes are available on CD / audio cassette. Most feature Peter Coke as Paul and Majorie Westbury as Steve, but a Carl Bernard / Bernadette Hodgson serial is also available. Recently the BBC re-recorded some "lost" episodes with Crawford Logan as Paul and Gerda Stevenson as his wife. These are also available.

The radio series was so popular that the author, Francis Durbridge, was inspired to write a number of books. The BBC have recorded a number of these with Anthony Head as the reader. (Anthony Head is perhaps best known for his appearences in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Little Britain". Or for the older among you, those "Gold Blend" coffee commercials).

The drama serials and audio books are available through a number of outlets.
